Code for housing application

In order to register housing application in the CIS queue you need a code, which is sent to you by Chalmers university when you have been granted admission to studies.

Chalmers university sends the SGS a list of students who may apply for housing under the CIS website. Only those who have received the code from Chalmers University should register on this website.

Register your information 

Go to and choose Applying info and Application on the menu. Enter the code you received from Chalmers University.
Register your personal information by filling out all the steps in the application form. 



Your user name and password

Choose a user name and password of your own. The SGS staff can not see your password, please write it down for yourself.
We send all housing information to the e-mail address you have registered, even after arrival in Sweden. 

Choose the length of stay

Master's who pay tuition fees may keep the flat for the maximum length of lease, which is 24 months. 

Others may only keep the student flat for one year. The university informs you about this.

Students who do not pay tuition fees may choose 6 or 12 months (starting from August). Only tuition paying Master's may choose to stay longer than one year.

Tick the right student category under the profile information. (Or write that under "Message" from the customer.)

Check the information you entered and confirm by ticking the box under Approval.


The fixed housing periods

The housing periods are predetermined; please choose the length of your stay. 

If you plan to leave earlier than the contract period, you may give the SGS a written notice three calendar months in advance.

Those who study here longer than one year can apply for housing in the regular student housing queue later on.

Each person should only have one housing application, where different queues may be activated. 

For activating the SGS regular student housing queue we need completing documents ; a copy of your passport,  admission letter and a copy of residence permit (nationals from outside the EU). 


These are the housing periods 

6 months = August 15, 2017 to January 15, 2018

6 months = January 16, 2018 to July 31, 2018

12 months = August 15, 2017 to July 31, 2018

18 months = August 15, 2017 to January 15, 2019 (only for students paying tuition fees)

24 months= August 15, 2017 to July 31, 2019 (only for students paying tuition fees)

The housing periods start in mid August or mid January every year.

If you have to leave before the end of the fixed lease, you have the right to terminate the housing contract with  three calendar months notice period. 
The notice period is counted from the closest following turn of the month.

E-mail verification

When the registration is completed, you receive a message about e-mail verification. Please verify your e-mail address in order to access available flats on the website.
The application is blocked until the verification is done. 

If you arrive in the middle of a semester
