SGSNET Wireless

Tenants with student housing contracts can connect to SGS Studentbostäders wireless networks in common premises.

The wireless network is not wide open, it requires authentication. It is protected because it makes it possible for you to use your account. It does also protect your Internet traffic from being exposed more than necessary. It is important that you use a local firewall on your computer. With cell phones and tablet devices etc it can be hard to find firewalls. The security level that you have set on your internet connection at home (hemma.sgsstudentbostader.se) is not applied on the wireless connection.

The authentication method is WPA2 Enterprise. A technical therm for it is dot1x, which comes from the standard that describes the technology, IEEE 802.1x.

Problems?

Does your computer run Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 , see above!
Note that there are two different authentications and the first/outer are not using the same methods as
the second/inner.
It is important to choose WPA2 Enterprise, not WEP with 802.1x or WPA2 only.
Does it still not work take contact with SGS Computer Network Group.
